Exceptional Family Member Program

The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is a mandatory enrollment program, based on carefully defined rules. EFMP works with other military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated medical, educational, housing, community support, and personnel services to Families with special needs.

EFMP enrollment works to ensure that needed services are available at the receiving command before the assignment is made. Parenting a child with special needs presents unique challenges and we are here to assist you.

Special Needs Library

EFMP has a special needs library located at ACS and is open to the entire community. The library includes books, DVDs, online resource information and special needs products that can help you better understand the condition of your special needs Family member.

Respite Care

Respite Care is a temporary relief for caregivers of a Family member with special needs. A military Family with an EFM that meets certain criteria is eligible for up to 40 hours of paid respite care per month. Please contact EFMP Manager at ACS for application procedures.

Systems Navigation

Systems Navigation is a community support component of the EFMP that connects Families with special needs to the systems of care they need, both on and off the installation. The Systems Navigator is trained and knowledgeable about the systems of care used by Families with special needs.
